Hearts for Change

Hearts for Change is doing such a good work in the lives of Kenyan children and Canadian families. It was a pleasure to be involved in creating their website.

The original website was created in 2009 and then updated in 2019.

It was important that the user be able to quickly get a sense of what the charity was about and how they could be involved. And, as a charity, it was also imperative that users had a clear and easy opportunity to donate online.

Welcome Home Kingston

Mark and Linda first came to CarricDesign when their existing site needed to be updated. Initial updates were done for the then-current site, but there were opportunities for the site in usability and search engine optimization that were being under-utilized at the time. This led to a site update in 2008 that kept the same look, but added features, lightened and updated the code and optimized for SEO.

In 2010, the site was re-designed. The main constraint was the banner that was already a fixed width. The new site featured their listings very prominently to allow users easy access. Each listing came with both a javascript and Flash gallery that could be edited by onsite staff.

The site was changed to a WordPress-powered site in 2014. A theme was customized to suit the Brent/Malinoff style and add custom functionality without a custom development cost. In 2019, the design was updated again by CarricDesign.

Listings are added and edited by onsite staff, however CarricDesign is only an email or phone call away, should they need some help.

Eastern Script

Eastern Script is a script clearance and title search company that services production houses across North America.

CarricDesign has been working with the owner since 2010, when they needed an update to a current site. The site was updated to current best practices in HTML and then, in 2018, updated again to WordPress.

A World of Rentals

CarricDesign has been working with A World of Rentals since they first ventured online. The first site was solidly built in HTML and contained a PDF catalogue of their rental units.

In 2019, the client decided to update their online presence with a searchable catalogue. The website was redesigned, keeping the simple, clean structure of the original site while adding the catalogue element.

In addition to the new features, it was important to highlight the fact that A World of Rentals is a local Kingston company, run by the same brothers that started it in 1998.

Some content was re-written and photography of the tools and equipment was done onsite.
